Training Course "Dis-Connect" about Mindfulness

What is "Dis-connect"?

Dis-connect is an innovative training course for youth workers and educators  funded by the Erasmus+ Youth in Action Programme. It was born out of the reflection on the overuse of technologies among adults and young people and their consequences (multitasking, continuous partial attention, etc.).

20 participants will arrive from Austria, Belarus, Hungary, Greece, Poland, Italy, Bulgaria and Spain. Exceptionally, we will accept applicants from other countries.

It is focused on providing the participants with applicable tools for a more conscious use of technology and a more effective use of time, through specific techniques based primarily on mindfulness. Participants will gain a greater knowledge and awareness of the implications of overuse of technology in their daily lives, and among young people.

We will ask participants not to use mobiles phones or internet during the course.

What is Mindfulness? Why is it useful?

Mindfulness or full consciousness allows to remain in the present moment, with full attention and acceptance of experience through exercises of attention management, observation, meditation, body awareness or sensory perception.

Participants will also be able to acquire basic tools of mindfulness, which may be used for greater individual well-being, self-awareness of the present moment, stress regulation and management of conflict situations, among others. These tools will be useful both personal and professional, young participants can be transmitted in initiatives undertaken by their organizations, especially among those with greater difficulty concentrating, lower academic achievement or special vulnerability, contributing to the development of their resilience, reducing stress, anxiety or impulsivity, and improve your emotional self, empathy and self-control.

For who is it?

We look for people over 25 years old who work in education (formal or non formal): teachers, social educators, youth workers, etc. with special emphasis on the impact of abuse of technology and continuous partial attention. In addition, we hope that you have a special motivation to learn some tools of Mindfulness and implement the knowledge acquired in the course within their organizations.

We require a minimum level of English (A2 onwards). In addition, the following characteristics are valued:

- Have skills and / or experience relevant to enrich the project
- Great motivation to learn
- Opportunity to apply the learning outcome in an educative context

Where?

The project will take place in the Sierra Vicor hostel, a quiet natural area in the province of Zaragoza (Check it on the map https://goo.gl/maps/EycmDMveT8w)

The choice of this space will help disconnect from excessive external stimulation and information.

A vegetarian diet will be followed. Notice the hostel is basic and the showers "gym-style".

When?

August 15 (day of arrival) to August 24 (day of departure). You can arrive to Spain up to two days before and stay up two days after at your own expense and get the travel costs reimbursed.

How much?

We don’t want to enter into relationship with you as the providers of a service for a consumer. We want to enter into a more human relationship with you, as co-producers and collaborators in the transformation of ourselves and our world. To support this intention, rather than offering our work as a service to be bought, we ask for contributions to make this work possible.

That's why will ask you for a fee between 30€ and 100€ (you decide how much according to your experience and financial capacity).


The accommodation, activities, food will be covered.

Travel costs will be reimbursed depending on the travel distance from your point of origin.

Less than 499 km      - 180€
500 - 1999 km            - 275€
More than 2000 km   - 360€
